A Normal Being

Disability is a condition,

Don’t take it as your whole life.

People may choose to emphasize on your disability,

But you should never lose the sight of your abilities.

A single disability cannot determine your fate,

Because you have impressive heights & accomplishments in life to date.

You are not an inspiration,

Nor a poor fellow because of a disability;

You are just a person striving to be acknowledged as a normal being.

Forgive people for their oblivious thinking,

Their ignorance cannot be your destiny.

Embrace yourself with all your heart and spirit,

And the shallow gaze of the world won’t matter anymore.

  1. Wow this is a brilliant poem! I actually have autism, so I could relate to this! Having a disability shouldn’t define you as a person, and you should still trust your abilities and believe you can achieve your goals! Thanks for sharing 🙂
